When Luella Shakespeare (Jo Joyner) asks private detective Frank Hathaway (Mark Benton) to spy on her fiancé to see if he’s cheating, he turns her down at first. However his assistant Sebastian (Patrick Walshe McBride) reminds Frank that they’re broke, so he gives in. What Frank discovers while investigating surprises both of them, and by the end of the first season, Lu pays off his debts and becomes a partner in the business. That works out well, as the two become a great team. Women feel more comfortable discussing their problems with Lu, while Frank, an ex-cop, has the expertise to guide Lu through all aspects of the job as they move on to many more cases in the beautiful tourist town of Stratford-upon-Avon.
