When her father dies, Sarah, a new Quebecer in her twenties, leaves Montreal to visit her grandmother Magda, who lives alone in the Uruguayan countryside. Returning to the place where she grew up, the young woman wants to learn more about what caused her parents to flee to Canada more than a decade ago.
