Despite feeling that she has a real connection with her new boyfriend, Jake (Jesse Plemons), a young woman (Jessie Buckley) is thinking of ending things with him. Even so, she goes on a road trip with him to meet his parents (David Thewlis, Toni Collette) for the first time at their farm. When they arrive, she finds something off about them. She becomes trapped at the farm during a snowstorm and begins to question the nature of everything she knew or understood about her boyfriend, herself, and the world.
