Bulwark police detective Brett Ridgeman (Mel Gibson) and his much-younger partner, Anthony Lurasetti (Vince Vaughn), are homophobic, racist, sexist and volatile. They routinely take down potential criminals with excessive force, while spouting bigoted comments. When the media exposes their strong-arm tactics, their commanding officer, Chief Lt. Calvert (Don Johnson), has no option but to suspend them for six weeks without pay. Each of the embittered policemen is desperate for cash—Brett’s wife has MS, while Anthony wants to propose to his girlfriend—so they decide to use their time off to rob a drug dealer.
