When Abby (Kat Dennings), who recently came out, has her first lesbian relationship come to an end, she looks forward to spending Thanksgiving with her recently divorced best friend Molly (Malin Akerman). Molly, who’s a semi-famous actor and the mother of a baby, hosts the event at her luxury home in Los Angeles. Although the plan is to have just the two of them spend the holiday together, Molly invites their mutual friend Lauren (Aisha Tyler), whose family travel plans fell through. Molly’s new boyfriend Jeff (Jack Donnelly) is also invited, to Abby’s chagrin. Soon, friends begin inviting themselves over and they have a full house, including Molly’s hedonist mother Helen (Jane Seymour), who arrives unannounced and takes it upon herself to invite Molly’s former boyfriend Gunnar (Ryan Hansen).
