Aniara, one of many ships carrying settlers from a ruined Earth to a new home on Mars, is knocked off course by an asteroid. The state-of the art spaceship resembles a mall, with shops, pool, spa, arcades and 21 restaurants to keep everyone entertained and happy during the 23-day trip. However, when it’s forced off course, the passengers come to understand that they are being taken on a trip to nowhere. Eventually left with only algae to eat on their endless trip, which turns into one year, then two, then three, their lives devolve into chaos. Based on a poem by Swedish Nobel Prize winning writer Harry Martinson.
